Conservation is a team effort that also requires round-the-clock surveillance. Segera’s success story in conserving its precious ecosystem and protecting the 50,000-acre wildlife sanctuary is largely built on the collective effort of our Rangers and anti-poaching dog unit. The Canine unit has been an amazing addition to our anti-poaching and security efforts and does a superb job of keeping our wildlife safe. They also support our local communities and neighbouring conservancies when poaching, cattle rustling, and cases of missing people occur.
The ZEITZ foundation ensures the rangers are well-equipped and receive regular training. This training keeps our rangers up to date with the changing tactics of wildlife criminals as well as being ahead of any threats to the security of the land.
Through our partnership with Space For Giants, an organization that protects large animals and their habitats, our rangers use the Earth Ranger App to monitor and study wildlife movement effectively. This software solution empowers rangers to make more informed operational decisions for wildlife conservation. The app collects, integrates, and displays all historical and available remote sensing data and combines it with reports from the field to provide one unified view of wildlife, rangers, enforcement assets, and infrastructure within the conservancy.
